Office building
Munich: an eye-catching blend of old and new
The iCampus Rhenania office complex will occupy a plot at Friedenstrasse, just a stone’s throw away from the Munich East railway station. Ten building units will be erected around the listed former administrative building of Rhenania, the company which owned the site in the 20th century. The result will be a striking ensemble of old and new buildings, with the bright, neoclassical structure made from mineral materials standing in stark contrast against the black, metallic, minimalist new structure.
PICHLER projects has been hired to provide the façades for the new building. The project comes with a particular challenge: the window profiles and attached profile frames are special constructions developed specifically for this purpose. All elements are interconnected. The windows and frames were built at the PICHLER projects headquarters in Bolzano. Treated with a Duraflon® coating, the elements are highly weatherproof and UV-resistant.
