COOKIES

What are cookies?

In IT, HTTP cookies (also called “web cookies”, “tracking cookies” or simply “cookies”) are lines of text that are used for automatic authentication processes, to track Internet sessions and to store information about the users accessing the server, such as the most-visited sites or favourites or the contents of their shopping carts for online shopping.

Specifically, they are small text files that are sent from a server to a web client (usually a browser) and then sent back (unchanged) from the client back to the server whenever the user visits the same sub-area of the same web domain again.

Each domain or sub-area of a domain visited with the browser can set cookies. Since a typical website – e.g. that of an online newspaper – contains objects that come from many different domains, each of which can set cookies, it is usual for one’s browser to host hundreds of cookies.

Monitoring cookies

You can control and/or delete cookies as you see fit. Visit aboutcookies.org to find out how to do so. You can delete all the cookies that are stored on your computer and set up almost all browsers to prevent them from accepting new ones. If you choose this option, however, you may have to modify some settings manually each time you visit a site and accept that some functionality will be impaired.

What types of cookie do we use?

This site does not use any profiling cookies.

In particular, this site uses:

Technical cookies, i.e. for navigation or visits; they are essential to ensure that the site functions perfectly and to allow users to use the content and the services offered.
