The cable car of the future
Technological excellence and architectural precision converge in the Valisera Bahn, which, despite its modern appearance, is harmoniously nestled within the mountain landscape. It retains its functional character while making a striking design statement.
With a transport capacity of 3,600 people per hour, it is Austria's first gondola lift of the AURO (‘Autonomous Ropeway Operation’) type and only the second of its kind worldwide. This highly automated system enables autonomous cable car operation: while the valley and mountain stations function entirely independently, two operators at the mid-station monitor the system and can control it manually. The intelligent, interconnected technology ensures the highest safety standards and efficient operation.
Architecturally, the system impresses with a clear, innovative design language and construction solutions that deliver a strong aesthetic impact. The distinctive arch structure of steel girders conveys both solidity and dynamism. A transparent ETFE roof allows ample daylight to flood in, creating a bright, airy ambience in the area below.
